If you are looking for a fascinating and exclusive gift for a friend or for some instant self gratification, make sure to touch base with the new Nest buyer, Donald Fowler. His mind continually overflows with great ideas. His suggestion today? Go ahead and read on!
Donald's choice is the new limited edition hardback Norman Mailer, Moonfire: The Epic Journey of Apollo 11. Referred to as the "single most historic event of the 20th century", Apollo 11 passengers Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins blasted into space with the help of a staff of 400,000 and a budget of $24 million.
To honor the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, Taschen has united Norman Mailer's passages of text with mind-blowing photography from NASA and LIFE archives. Mailer was hired by LIFE to cover this story which later evolved to his book "Of A Fire On The Moon".
Many of the images have never been published, but trace the beginnings of the teams mission to the first steps on the moon. Also included are captions by Apollo 11 experts explaining the history behind the images, citing the mission log, and post-flight interviews with the astronauts.
