Cloisonne: Enamel Jars

Cloisonne is an ancient metal working technique that first developed in the near east. It is a multi-step enamel process that is used to produce jewelry, vases, and other decorative pieces.

The artist solders wires bent to the outline of a design and filling the resulting cellular spaces, called cloisons, with an enamel paste. The object then is fired, ground smooth, and polished.

Nest's cloisonne jars were crafted by a French company specializing in creating contemporary pieces using ancestral techniques.
