I really love the recent trend of taking childhood treats and growning them up into gourmet indulgences. First it was the cupcake. Oh- the cupcake. We will gladly give away $5 for a cupcake that has organic cream cheese frosting & free range eggs used in the batter, and we don't regret it either. Why would we?
Then came the Popcorn wave. No longer will the Pop Secret suffice. With the ability to trade up for for variations like "sea salt & Pulegra butter popcorn drizzled with decadent Lindt dark chocolate," you're missing out on a cultural revolution by going microwave pop.
Recently though, these glimpses of warm weather have me hoping that by the time summer rolls around Popsicles will be "it." I'm thinking of a fabulous vintage truck with a red & white strip awning that rolls through UpTown. All of Dallas can line up for the grown-up version of the Bomb Pop & pay $4.25 for 10 minutes of indulgence.
I'm hoping for some adult versions like...
Ferrero Rocher Drumstick
Blueberry Mojito Twin Pop
Sangria Swirl Pushup
White Chocolate & Almond Eskimo Pie
Am I missing any obvious items to the menu? I'm open to suggestions...
Afterwards, we can all ride our bikes back to work.
